Nightlife in Pattaya centers on the sex trade. Scattered throughout town (though mostly concentrated on Sai Song) are hundreds of beer bars—low-key places whose hostesses merely want to keep customers buying drinks. Raunchier go-go bars are mostly found on the southern end of town. Pattaya's, and perhaps Thailand's, most shockingly in-your-face red-light district is on Soi 6, about a block in from the beach. Whether you find it intriguing or beyond the pale, the street is a sight to behold, with hundreds of prostitutes lined up shoulder-to-shoulder at all hours, spilling out of bars and storefronts and catcalling to every male passerby. Gay bars are in the sois between Pattaya Beach Road and Pattaya 2 Road called Pattayaland.
Generally, the only bars in town that are somewhat removed from the commercial sex trade are in pricey hotels.

At this hotel bar you'll get a great view of the sunset over the Gulf of Thailand—through plate-glass windows or, better yet, alfresco—while sipping wines or well-crafted cocktails, perhaps accompanied by tapas. There's a small library adjacent to the wine bar.
