Don Don Donki

Orchard Fodor's choice
This Japanese shopping wonderland overwhelms the senses with its huge and eclectic inventory in a mishmash of vibrant colors and the "Don Don Donki" jingle that it plays endlessy (it's guaranteed to stick in your head for the rest of the day). Expect everything from hand fans to Japanese bin bags, ceramic bowls to rubber chickens. At the Orchard Central store, there is also an excellent food section, with freshly prepared bento lunches available to buy and eat at the nearby Don Don Donki bar and seating area.

Robinsons The Heeren

Orchard

Now a household name, this enormous department store first opened in Singapore in 1858. It spans six floors and 150,000 square feet and sells some of the most sought-after brands and labels in Singapore. On Black Friday, thousands of Singaporeans camp outside the night before ito get to Robinson's bargains first, whether fashion, furniture, or kitchenware. Outside of the sales, prices can be a little steep, but the quality is always good.

Tangs

Orchard
Tangs is a much-loved department store selling all the major brands. Its basement is particularly good for household items, from Le Creuset pans to the latest coffee machines—less practical for short-term visitors to Singapore but a great place to shop if you plan to stick around a little longer.

There are two branches in Singapore: one in Orchard and one in Suntec City.

Yue Hwa

Chinatown

Inside this aging, five-level, Chinese department store you'll find plenty of unique (and often pricey) products, including medicinal herbs, tea, silks, fashion, and home furnishings. Many of the items are from mainland China.
