Fodor's Expert Review The Roadrunner Inn

306 E. Main St., Fredericksburg, Texas, 78624, USA Fodor's Choice

Not all B&Bs are stuffed with Victorian decor and period pieces, and this is one of Fredericksburg's best urban-minded accommodations offering a more contemporary environment. The Roadrunner Inn is composed of three little loftlike rooms perched above the Root clothing store on Main Street. Bright, fresh colors and lush, green tropical plants create a nouveau-Miami feel. From robin's-egg blue and canary-yellow dishes mounted on the walls to lime-green-and-white accent pillows resting on the 1970s sectional couches, everything screams: "We're retro, but we're still Texas-friendly." Kitchens are stocked with juice, milk, tea, coffee, and cereal. Fresh fruit and breakfast pastries are brought to your room each morning.

PROS

  • clean rooms and beautiful bathrooms
  • proximity to Main Street is hard to beat
  • unique retro decor

CONS

  • might be too trendy for some
  • only three rooms, so books up fast
  • Main Street–facing rooms get street noise
