Longtime Nashvillians may cringe at the WeHo moniker increasingly applied to the Wedgewood-Houston neighborhood, but the shortened name is just one of the many transformations coming to the area. Higher-end residential offerings, a variety of restaurants, and a couple of craft distilleries may have arrived, but the remaining warehouses, train tracks, and commercial buildings help the expanding art scene maintain an appropriate edge. Most of the converted spaces have kept a bit of their rough origins, like the garage doors at the back of galleries on Hagan Street that hint at the building’s former life as a truck repair shop. The pace of change in Wedgewood-Houston is astounding, with new businesses opening (and others closing) almost on a monthly basis. This trend should continue to develop as the former minor league baseball stadium and a 1930s hosiery mill are repurposed.
