Bus Travel

There is bus travel to the coast from Portland and Eugene, but this is a fairly slow and cumbersome way to explore the area. North by Northwest Connector is a nonprofit organization that coordinates travel among five rural transit services in the northwestern corner of the state. From its website, you can plan and book trips from Portland to Astoria, with connecting service between the two along the coast, stopping in Seaside, Cannon Beach, Manzanita, and other communities. Additionally, Northwest Point, operated by MTR Western bus line, has twice-daily bus service from Portland to Cannon Beach, and then up the coast to Astoria; Greyhound handles the company’s reservations and ticketing. Pacific Crest Bus Lines connects Florence, Coos Bay, and Reedsport with Eugene every day except Saturday.
