Air Travel

From Portland, which has Oregon’s largest airport, the drive is about 2 hours to Astoria and Cannon Beach, and 2½ hours to Lincoln City and Newport. If you’re headed farther south, you have a few other options, including flying into the regional airport in Eugene, which is served by most major airlines and is a 90-minute drive from Florence; flying into the tiny Southwest Oregon Regional Airport in the coast town of North Bend, which is an hour south of Florence and 2½ hours north of Brookings; flying into Rogue Valley International Airport in Medford, which is a 2½-hour drive from Brookings and a 3-hour drive from Bandon; and flying into Del Norte County Airport in Crescent City, California, which is just a 30-minute drive south of Brookings.

Southwest Oregon Regional Airport has flights to Portland on PenAir (a partner with Alaska Airlines) and to San Francisco and Denver on United Express. The airport has Hertz and Enterprise car-rental agencies as well as cab companies serving the area, including Coos Bay and Bandon.

There are a few shuttle services connecting the airports in Portland and Eugene to the coast, but these tend to be far less economical than renting a car. Caravan Airport Transportation runs a daily shuttle service from Portland International Airport to Lincoln City and on down to Yachats. OmniShuttle provides door-to-door van service from the Eugene airport to the central coast, from Florence down to around Bandon.
