LGBTQ Travel

New Orleans has a large LGBTQ population throughout the metropolitan area. The most gay-friendly neighborhoods are the French Quarter and the Faubourg Marigny, located just outside the Quarter.

The website frenchquarter.com has an LGBTQ section including an interactive map of entertainment locations and an events calendar.

Throughout the year there are a number of gay festivals. The biggest is Southern Decadence, held Labor Day weekend. The city also has gay-friendly guesthouses and B&Bs, particularly along Esplanade Avenue.

Ambush (www.ambushmag.com), a local newspaper published every other week, provides a list of current events in addition to news and reviews. You can find this publication at many gay bars.
