About the Restaurants

Quaint and casual describes most of Indiana’s restaurants, particularly in the many small towns sprinkled around the state. Slicker, more upscale eateries like steak houses exist in Indianapolis and other metropolitan areas. That the northern half of the Hoosier state hosts the largest Amish community outside of western Pennsylvania means access to made-from-scratch pies and pastries, along with hearty meat and vegetable dishes. This landlocked state focuses on meats, so you’ll find plenty of beef, pork tenderloin, and game meats on restaurant menus.
