Kauai

Although luau remain a primary source of evening fun for families on vacation, there are a handful of other possibilities. There are no traditional dinner cruises, but some boat tours do offer an evening buffet with music along Napali Coast. A few times a year, Women in Theater (WIT), a local women's theater group, performs dinner shows at the Hukilau Lanai in Wailua and the Kauai Community Players offers regular performances at its Puhi Theatrical Warehouse. Kauai Community College Performing Arts Center also draws well-known artists.

  • 1. Hanalei Slack Key Concerts

Relax to the instrumental music form created by Hawaiian paniolo (cowboys) in the early 1800s. Shows are Wednesday in Kapaa at All Saints' Church and Tuesday at the Princeville Community Center. If you're looking for a scenic setting, though, head to Hale Halawai Ohana O Hanalei on Friday and Sunday; it's mauka (toward the mountains) down a dirt access road across from St. William Catholic Church (Malolo Road) and then left down another dirt road.
