Why We Like It

Super convenient to Universal Studios, this lodging includes freebies that increase the value of the room rate. Fodor's Expert Review

If Universal's roller coasters and Harry Potter attractions are your destinations, these homey accommodations just outside the park should fit the bill. Pale brick exteriors with Victorian-style architectural touches give the place a dorm-in-a-small-town-college look, but the rooms offer more than college fare. Each suite has a kitchenette, complete with microwave, refrigerator, and coffeemaker; some have dining tables. The small suites have two queens or a king-size bed and a sofa bed. There's a business center, fitness center, heated pool, and game room on-site, and the neighborhood has entertainment and dining options.

Room

Decorated in tones of gold and beige, the spacious accommodations have a bedroom and living room area, with either one king bed or two queen beds and a sofa bed. Rooms are equipped with a flat screen TV, fridge, microwave, coffee maker and free Wi-Fi. An on-site coin operated laundry facility is available.

You Should Know They may be called suites, but there is no door between the sleeping area and the living room area. Separated by a half wall that provides little privacy, but if that's not essential, you get a lot of sleeping space in the rooms, for a value price.

Bathroom

Bathrooms feature a tiled tub/shower area and a granite vanity with one sink and ample space for lots of toiletries to be stored.

Lobby

The lobby is bright and functional, with a dark wood reception desk. A few chairs are scattered, but this is not a lobby for lingering, but for checking in and getting to your room. The breakfast buffet area is just off the lobby, along with a grab-and-go store where you can pick up quick snacks, drinks, drug store items, and ice cream.

Pool

The small heated pool is perfect for floating and relaxing. Pool and lounge chairs are available in limited numbers, and towels are provided. The hot tub is small, seating only a few people at a time.

Gym

A water cooler and towels are provided in the fitness center. Treadmills, ellipticals, and free weights are available for guests to use, and some floor space is available for the use of balance balls and exercise mats.

Tip If you forget earphones, the hotel will provide a pair.

Dining

The only restaurant style meal is the free hot breakfast served in the breakfast buffet room near the lobby each morning, featuring eggs, waffles, meats, yogurts and fruit. The dining space is bright and full of natural light, with ample seating options.
