In the early 20th century, Highland Park was a bastion for artists who erected numerous Arts and Crafts movement houses. It evolved into a largely immigrant community in the middle of the century and in the last few years has become a hybrid of its history. Local business owners have revived beautiful, historic buildings and turned them into exciting new restaurants, shops, and watering holes that pay ode to the area’s past. These stand side by side with long-time establishments that serve up some of the best, and most authentic, tacos in town.
