Why We Like It

There aren’t a lot of great hotel options in this neck of the woods, but the Los Feliz Lodge fills that void with fully appointed apartment-style accommodations. There aren’t many amenities (no pool, gym, spa, lobby, etc.), but the hands-off do-it-yourself approach is appealing in its own way. Rooms are big, the area is quiet, and the ability to walk to anything is a major asset.

Fodor's Expert Review

Special in its simplicity, the Los Feliz Lodge is a quaint, Spanish-style property that caters to visitors of the neighborhood and provides guests with apartment living accommodations for self-serving stays. Located in a quiet Los Feliz pocket, the Lodge is in a solid walking area with access to restaurants, bars, and shops, and a location that’s central enough to provide easy access to the rest of the city.

Tip Make use of their sporadic public spaces with comfy chairs and couches that look out over the neighborhood.

Room

Brightly colored rooms are incredibly spacious and feature hardwood floors, a living room, kitchen, and ample air conditioning. Two of the bigger units come with washers and dryers, though there is a communal one as well for long-term renters.

You Should Know Every room has a single bed--either a king or queen. So if you want to share with a friend, you either sleep together or flip a coin to see who gets the couch.

Bathroom

Bathrooms are bathed in a variety of colors and consist of a shower/tub combos and circular white tiles. Every room in the Lodge is decorated differently.

You Should Know Maid service only comes once a week, so unless you’re staying more than seven days, make sure you hang up your own towels to dry (though you should probably do this regardless).

Lobby

There’s no lobby or front desk, but if you need to check in really late at night, the Lodge provides a key code for both the front gate and your room.

What's Nearby

Getting Around

The area is very residential, but you’re only a few blocks from major arteries like Sunset Blvd. and Hollywood Blvd. Better yet, you’re a 5-minute walk from the Vermont/Sunset Metro station that can shuffle you to Universal Studios, downtown LA, Hollywood, or Santa Monica. Hailing rides like Uber or Lyft is easy but if you rent a car, know that there’s only street parking in front of the property.

Restaurants

Thai food lovers can’t go wrong with uber trendy Night + Market Song (5-minute drive). If French cuisine is more your style, hit up Café Stella (4-minute drive) and make sure you order the escargot.

Bars

If you’re into wine, make your way to Covell (9-minute walk), a cozy and intimate wine bar for any occasion. A real drinking gem is Tiki-Ti (5-minute walk), a claustrophobic ode to the glories of Tiki cocktails--next day headaches are pretty certain.
