Why We Like It

If you like having all the comforts of home while sitting minutes away from the beach, then you’ll melt when you see this B&B. Everything about the Channel Road Inn screams cozy, and the staff makes sure each guest receives the personal attention to unwind on their LA vacation. Like most B&Bs, you won’t find hotel trappings like in-house restaurants, bars, etc. but what the house lacks, they more than make up for with service and comfort. Tucked away on an odd street, but oddly convenient for the rest of the coastline, this B&B is a great hub for all the west side of LA has to offer.

Fodor's Expert Review

If you want to stay in your own beach house, steps away from the white sands of Santa Monica beach, then hole up in this craftsman Bed & Breakfast with all the accouterments of home. An eclectic bunch stays here from artists and writers to LA staycationers who just want a piece of the water and peace from the city. From the moment you enter, you’ll be put at ease as the authentic floorboards creak under your feet from the bones of a house built in 1910 (but now with all modern amenities).

Room

Every room in the house is a little different--but all convey their own sense of charm. Country home stylings are prevalent throughout and homemade cookies await each guest. Depending on the room, you might have a balcony, or a fireplace, or a separate sitting area to read a book and while away the day.

Tip Request the Spa Suite. Here you’ll find an oversized Jacuzzi-style tub just off the foot of the bed--perfect for a romantic getaway.

Bathroom

Bath products are courtesy of Gilchrist & Soames BeeKind collection. Most rooms have shower/tub combos and white-tiled floors.

Lobby

The homey living room and common areas feature country home furnishings with rich hardwood floors. A fireplace helps keep things warm in the winter and guests are encouraged to grab a book and nestle in with free coffee and tea.

Tip Channel Road will lend you beach towels and bike cruisers if you want to find that perfect beach spot a little further down the PCH.

Spa

Channel Road has a dedicated area for massage treatments and they bring in an outside masseuse for any kinks you may need worked out.

Dining

Like most B&Bs, there’s free breakfast each morning. Unlike many, the breakfasts here might include everything from French toast to gluten free frittatas. There’s also cakes, fruit, cereals, juice, coffee, and tea.

Drinking

There’s no bar, but every afternoon from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., Channel Road hosts afternoon Wine & Hors D’oeuvres, with an assortment of snacks and vino.

What's Nearby

Getting Around

When you stay at Channel Road Inn, we would recommend you rent a car. There’s plenty of free parking and you’re at a junction that can take you directly to Malibu, Santa Monica, Venice, or Brentwood. Walking around here is fine too, with easy access to the beach, but you won’t be close to many restaurants, bars, or shops.

Restaurants

Giorgio Baldi (2-minute walk) is one of the best Italian restaurants in LA and just down the street from your front door. For some Mediterranean fare, check out Sam’s by the Beach (3-minute walk) and enjoy a romantic and unpretentious dinner.

Bars

Next to Giorgio’s is SHOREbar (2-minute walk), a nautical themed watering hole with pricey, but well-crafted cocktails. For a beachy cocktail scene that's filled with millennials, check out Bungalow (10-minute drive) inside the Fairmont Miramar Hotel.
