Fodor's Expert Review Marshlands Inn

A list of celebrity guests is displayed in the entrance hall of this grand and elegant inn, including Queen Elizabeth II, who once stopped in for afternoon tea and left the signed portrait that now hangs on the upstairs landing. A welcoming double parlor with a fireplace sets the comfortable country-house atmosphere. Bedrooms are furnished with sleigh beds or four-posters. The inn offers the only fine dining in town, with both traditional and modern dishes. In summer some of the herbs, vegetables, and flowers used in the kitchen and dining room come from the property's own lovely gardens.
