Fodor's Expert Review Camino Real Polanco Mexico

Mariano Escobedo 700, Mexico City, Mexico City, 11590, Mexico

About the size of Teotihuacán's Pyramid of the Sun, this sleek, low-slung, 8-acre megalith was designed by Mexico's modern master, Ricardo Legorreta. The whole place is one big sculpture punctuated by fountains, splashes of canary yellow and electric pink, and impressive artwork that includes Rufino Tamayo's mural Man Facing Infinity and a Calder sculpture. Rooms have gorgeous marble bathrooms and pops of vibrant color. The María Bonita restaurant puts a modern spin on the traditional cantina and is a great place for lunch. For dinner, consider Italian in the Bice Bistro or worldly Asian at the China Grill. Afterward, have a drink in the cool Blue Lounge, where one area is perched over water and has transparent floors. And should you be looking for a place to land your chopper, the hotel also has a heliport.
