You won't need a converter or adapter, as the electrical current in Guatemala is 110 volts, the same as in the United States. Outlets in both countries take U.S.–style plugs. Power surges are fairly common, so consider carrying a surge stabilizer if you travel with expensive electrical items, such as a laptop. In a few remote areas lodges and hotels may generate their own electricity. After the generators are turned off at night, light comes only from kerosene lanterns or your flashlight.
