Fodor's Expert Review Rumeli Café Restaurant
Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.
This charming spot on a quiet side street off Divanyolu offers a range of Turkish specialties, including unusual Armenian and Greek options such as kara erik yahnisi, a Byzantine stew of lamb, onions, apricots, and dried black plums cooked in a terra-cotta dish. International classics include a variety of salads, pastas, and steaks. The cozy interior, formerly the site of a book bindery, has Ottoman and Byzantine-style architectural details and hand-painted frescoes on the exposed brick walls. In summer you can sit outside at tables on the sidewalk or on the intimate roof terrace (with a partial view).
