Car Travel

Driving in eastern Switzerland doesn't give you the same amazing views as the trains, which chug over the meadows so close to cows you can practically hear them munching grass. If you decide to drive, Highway 13 goes along the south shores of the Untersee and Bodensee and continues up through the hills to Appenzell. In cities, such as St. Gallen and Schaffhausen, you'll find it easiest to head directly for the center and abandon the car for the duration of your visit. Try to get into a parking lot, because finding a spot on the street can be difficult.
