1. Bodegas Binifadet
This is the most promising of the handful of local wineries, with robust young reds and whites on store shelves all over Menorca. The owners have expanded their product line into sparkling Chardonnay and the palest-pink rosé, olive oil, jams and conserves, and wine-based soaps and cosmetics. All visits must be pre-booked, but it's well worth a stop, not merely for tastings and guided tours, but also for a meal on the terrace, weather permitting. The kitchen puts an international touch on traditional Menorcan recipes and products; the prix-fixe menu is great value at €28 for three courses, or €65 with a wine pairing. In midsummer, reservations are a must. The reward is kicking back among the most picturesque and peaceful surroundings.

3. Arquinesia Perfumes
This boutique perfumier makes just six fragrances, each inspired by, and named after, classic Balearic-island scents – Fig, Orange, Sea Breeze. A Collection Box of five miniature eau de parfum (€39) will preserve island memories in olfactory form, while scented ceramics (designed to fragrance closets or rooms; from €49) make elegant keepsakes. Then there’s the store itself: a spectacular 17th-century townhouse that appears stopped in time, thanks to original tile floors, dried flowers, and wooden cabinets packed with curios.

Glassmakers since 1719, Gordiola has a factory showroom in Algaida and a museum, on the Palma–Manacor road, where you can watch the glass being blown and even try your hand at making a piece. There is also a shop in the center of Palma on Carrer de la Victoria, 2.

11. Hort Sant Patrici
This artisanal cheese factory and agriturismo is a great place to buy the tangy, Parmesan-like Mahón cheese. Most weekdays you can watch the cheese being made, and guided tours (by reservation [email protected]; €8) are available at least once a day. As well as a shop (which is only open during said tours), the beautiful grounds boast a small vineyard, a sculpture garden and a botanical garden, and the island's only cheese-focused museum, featuring aging chambers and all manner of implements.

17. Mercat de Sineu
The island's biggest market takes place every Wednesday, 8 am to 1:30 pm, in the town of Sineu, 34 km (21 miles) east of Palma. The market, among the island's oldest, dates back to the 14th century, when livestock was auctioned—a practice that continues to this day. Come early if you want to see the auction, which takes place in and around the main square. Local crafts and produce, plants and flowers, clothing, and leather goods are traded throughout the village along the labyrinth of narrow streets, which can get very busy.

20. Rialto Living
The building that houses this smart lifestyle store off Passeig del Born – an 18th-century city palace that still shows off giant archways and original brickwork – is as striking as the curated edit of homeware, fashion, toys, and English-language books inside. Owned by design-obsessed Swedes Barbara Bergman and Klas Käll (the latter, one of the founding designers of the Gant brand), the store is a Palma institution for gift-buyers, interior stylists, and anyone needing a refuel (pastries, lunch, a glass of local wine) in its buzzy café.
