Fodor's Expert Review Bahía del Duque
Av. de Bruselas, Adeje, Canary Islands, 38660, Spain Fodor's Choice
Built to resemble a 19th-century Canarian village—complete with a bell tower, Italianate villas, and leafy courtyards—this sprawling luxury resort takes in eight restaurants, five swimming pools, a 24-hour gym, and two tennis courts. In other words, you could stay here for weeks and never want to leave the premises, especially after seeing the rooms, which exude old-world comfort yet feature modern bells and whistles like Nespresso machines. The grounds empty out onto the (public) Playa del Duque and bustling boardwalk, which comes alive at sunset.
PROS
- warm, helpful staff
- good breakfast buffet with made-to-order eggs
- bountiful poolside real estate
CONS
- most pools aren't climatized
- leaks in public areas when it rains
- overpriced spa
