Train Travel

The train stations on the Circumvesuviana line serving the Sorrentine Peninsula are Meta, Piano di Sorrento, Sant'Agnello, and Sorrento, in order of increasing distance from Naples. The main transport hub for cheap, efficient bus services radiating to destinations along the coast and inland is the Circumvesuviana station in Sorrento.

If heading to Sorrento from Naples, use the Stazione Centrale (Piazza Garibaldi), which is the second stop on the Circumvesuviana line as it departs from Naples. Follow the "Circumvesuviana" signs, which will take you through the ticket barriers down into the train stations.

Trains to Sorrento run every half hour from Naples; some trains are direttissimo (express), only stopping at major stations; they take half the time of local trains. Fares are €40 for Naples to Sorrento and €2.50 for Pompei Scavi–Sorrento. In Sorrento the train station is opposite Piazza Lauro and a five-minute walk from Piazza Tasso.
