Why We Like It
This classic hotel is a first-rate property with a high attention to detail for the finer things in life. Rooms are spacious, the restaurant is exquisite, and the location is hard to beat. There’s no pool and the Wi-Fi is a bit on the slow side, but you’re not in Florence to surf the web or swim laps anyway. For refined couples and well-to-do families, this is an ideal hotel with nearly all the trimmings.

Owned by the ever-stylish Rocco Forte family, the Hotel Savoy combines history, class, and comfort in a perfectly central location. The 17th century building has been the site of a hotel since the late 1800s and is well-known for luxury and service. Catering to a high-end clientele, the hotel features an incredible restaurant, loads of lavish suites, and a front-row seat to Piazza Della Repubblica.
You Should Know While the Wi-Fi is free for all guests, it’s pretty slow. If you want a faster signal, you’ll have to pay extra for it.

Room
Designed by Rocco Forte family member and famed interior designer Olga Polizzi, rooms are slathered in stylish touches that pay homage to Florence’s reputation for craftsmen. Here, you’ll find parquet floors, modern art, and stellar views of the plaza below. Nearly half the rooms are suites, and those come with unique features like in-room espresso machines, views of the Duomo, or butler-style services.
Tip If you book one of the highest end suites, you’ll find amenities like packing and unpacking assistance, free airport transfers, and personalized experiences like unique shopping or art tours of the city.
Bathroom
Sleek bathrooms are bathed (yeah) in brown or white marble and feature rain showers, deep tubs, and Rocco Forte branded bath products.
Lobby
Fashioned in a design collaboration with Emilio Pucci, the starkly white lobby has flashes of Pucci-styled pink and fuchsia colors in its comfy couches and hidden nooks.
Tip You can spy more Pucci designs on the outdoor restaurant terrace where you’ll find their signature scarf design featuring the Hotel Savoy emblazoned on the tabletops.
Gym
The property is home to one of the biggest (probably the biggest) hotel gym in Florence. Decked out in Technogym equipment and free weights, the giant space also has its own area for yoga practitioners. As of writing, there are no classes offered, but it might be something coming in the future.
Dining
Named after the family patriarch’s mother and daughter Irene, the restaurant serves up classic Tuscan fare with unique touches for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The highlight of the dining program is the spacious outdoor terrace that sits on the side of the Piazza Della Repubblica and is the perfect perch for people-watching.
Drinking
The bar inside Irene is known for classic cocktails and a mean Negroni. Don’t miss out on their pre-dinner apperitivo dubbed Fish & Spritz.

Getting Around
You can’t get much more central than this hotel’s location and walking to every major attraction in Florence is a breeze. Don’t bother renting a car as traversing the interior of the city is complicated, confusing, and fine-inducing. If you want to get around a little quicker, the hotel has first-come-first-serve bicycles.
Restaurants
For a unique dining experience, head over to the Hotel Brunelleschi (2-minute walk) where you can find fine-dining inside a 6th century tower. If you like fashion with your food, check out Gucci Garden (4-minute walk) where you can dine on world-famous chef Massimo Bottura’s heaven sent tortellini while trying not to spend a fortune on Gucci slippers.
Bars
If you eat at Hotel Brunelleschi, check out the bar before dinner where a veteran bartender slings perfect pours. Across from Gucci Garden in Piazza Della Signoria is Rivoire (4-minute walk) a chocolate and wine shop that’s as decadent as it sounds.
