Seltjarnarnes

Surrounded by unending views and the wild and sometimes shimmering Atlantic Ocean, this gorgeous district of Reykjavík has always been a popular destination, especially among the locals, who can be seen walking, cycling, or rollerblading the winding paths around the entire peninsula. From here it’s possible to observe a remarkable amount of coastline, including the sublime outline of the glacier-topped Snæfellsnes, the star of Jules Verne’s Journey to the Center of the Earth. Because of its unimpeded views it has also become a popular location for viewing both the midnight sun (summertime) and the northern lights (winter). Main attractions include a 9-hole golf course, the Grótta lighthouse, and Kvika, a well-utilized art piece in the form of a geothermal foot bath.
