Bus Travel

Local bus services can provide a link between train stations and scenic areas off the river, making it possible to reach many villages and châteaux. However, routes are often geared to schoolchildren, meaning service is less frequent in summer and sometimes all but nonexistent on Sunday, so only consider the bus if you have no other options. Inquire at tourist offices about routes and timetables, as the bus companies rarely have information available in English. The leading operators are Les Rapides du Val de Loire, based in Orléans; TLC, serving Chambord and Cheverny from Blois; Touraine Fil Vert and Fil Bleu, both of which serve the Touraine region, from Amboise in the east to Chinon in the west; and AnjouBus.
