There’s a chic cool about the Henrietta that extends from the bar, through the restaurant and into the rooms—so, throughout the entire place. Food and drink offerings are sublime (if a little expensive) and while amenities are scarce, this is a hotel made for romantic trysts and intimate escapes rather than gym workouts and pool laps.

Room
Mid-century meets art deco design in the rooms that come straight out of a magazine—say, Architectural Digest. Large puffy beds are the height of comfort with statement art deco headboards framing your night’s sleep with style. Gold sconces, walnut paneling and miniature writing bureaus are added touches of glamor.
Tip When it comes to dressing hotel rooms the TV is always going to negatively impact on the ambiance of the design—especially in a place as stylistically on point as the Henrietta Hotel. To get around this, rooms come with TVs hidden behind mirrored screens that pass as genuine interior decoration—until you turn them on, that is.
Bathroom
Like stepping onto your own Wes Anderson set, bathrooms are painted in a pale candy pink and decorated with monochrome tiles and grey marble. Smaller Covent Garden rooms come with walk-in showers, while larger rooms come with grand tubs with bath showers.
Lobby
The tight double townhouse leaves little space for a grand lobby, so the Henrietta makes do with a small check-in desk with the rest of the ground floor space given over to its bar and restaurant.
Dining
Again with the art deco-cum-mid-century design, the restaurant is a super chic space with bags of charm. The menu is a mix of delicate grazing plates and main dishes of refined modern European cuisine.
You Should Know Prices are high in the small—yet perfectly executed—restaurant but Covent Garden is full of foodie destinations should you wish to budget.
Drinking
Owners of cool speakeasy bar the Experimental Cocktail Club, with locations in both London and Paris, drinks are kind of a big deal at the Henrietta Hotel. Make sure to set aside some time for cocktails in the compact and cozy bar.

Getting Around
With a location like this the West End is your oyster. Exploring on foot is the best way to get around Covent Garden and the surrounding neighborhoods of Bloomsbury, Soho and Theatreland and if you need to travel any further you’ll find that Tube stations are plentiful. From the hotel, use either Covent Garden or Leicester Square Underground to travel further afield.
Restaurants
If prices are a tad steep at the hotel then indulge in great Chinese street food at Baozi Inn (5-minute walk), located on the edge of China town. Hip restaurant The Barbary (7-minute walk) is another must-try. Located in Neal’s Yard, the beautiful North African cuisine is enough to make you book a trip to Marrakesh for your next city break.
Bars
Drink wine in the amazing subterranean interior of Gordon’s Wine Bar (6-minute walk) where you’ll likely come over a little nostalgic for old London in the quirky Dickensian bar. For cocktails, equally as good as those you’ll find at the Henrietta, keep it in the family at the excellent Experimental Cocktail Club (7-minute walk).
