Fodor's Expert Review The Draycott Hotel

26 Cadogan Gardens, London, Greater London, SW3 2RP, England

A stay in this elegant yet homey boutique hotel near Sloane Square gives visitors a taste of life as an old-school, old-money Chelsea resident. The feel here is very much of a private town house, albeit one with an excellent, accommodating staff. Bedrooms, named after theatrical luminaries, are traditionally furnished, with heritage color schemes, heavy curtains, and the occasional real fireplace. Some are on the small side, but all are luxurious. There's no bar or restaurant, but a limited selection of dishes is provided by room service and the charming staff makes up for the lack of facilities with a nothing-too-much-trouble attitude and a genuine feeling of warmth toward their guests. Afternoon tea and biscuits are served daily (included in the price) and there's even free cocoa and cookies before bedtime.

PROS

  • lovely traditional town house
  • attentive service
  • access to garden square

CONS

  • no restaurant or bar
  • single rooms are very small
  • some decor needs refreshing
