Fodor's Expert Review The Grand Mark

Hybernská 12, Prague, Praha, 110 00, Czech Republic

This shiny new hotel and spa in an imposing 15th-century palace—steps from Námĕstí Republiky—brings a high level of service and attention to detail to a still-scruffy part of the center. While the original baroque exterior is impressive, rooms are handsome, if a tad staid, with a burgundy-and-brown palette, wooden floors, a small desk area, and some of Prague's best beds. Suites have kitchenettes, a separate sitting area, and nifty Czech modern art pieces like pendant chandeliers. The hotel restaurant, Le Grill, is delightful, if overly formal.

PROS

  • big, beautiful garden
  • excellent service and fantastic restaurant
  • great bathrooms and possibly Prague's best beds

CONS

  • only a small gym
  • the street is not especially attractive
  • functions held at the hotel can be noisy or restrict access to some areas
