Fodor's Expert Review Cayman Motor Museum

West Bay

Editor's Note: This location is reported to be under new ownership and therefore this review may contain inaccuracies.

This unexpected collection documents the magnificent obsession of one man, Norwegian magnate Andreas Ugland. More than 80 vehicles, preening like supermodels, gleam in ranks. There's one of the three original Batmobiles from the 1960s TV series; the world's first produced auto, an 1886 Benz; and classic Ferraris, Jags, Corvettes, BMWs, and others dating back nearly a century, including Elton John's Bentley, the 1930 Phantom driven in the film Yellow Rolls Royce, and Queen Elizabeth II's first limo. You can go hog wild over Harleys and other bad-ass bikes. And well, just because, coffee grinders—more than kitchen kitsch: Peugeot started producing mills and grinders in the mid-19th century. An avid sailor, Ugland wants to start a boat museum as well, but it likely won't capture the unlikely charm of this Cayman oddity. Beware: it closes half the year, keeps irregular hours, and nonauto-enthusiasts might get sticker shock.
