Phan Thiet is a charming fishing town divided by the Phan Thiet River, where the colorful feline-eyed fishing fleet is moored. The town has some interesting sights and some excellent people-watching opportunities. It's a great place to see local life in action at a much slower pace than the major cities. Until 1692, the Cham controlled the area, as evidenced by the Cham towers. Many locals are ethnically Cham, descendants of these former rulers.
