Fodor's Expert Review Seava Ho Tram

Hwy. 55, Bung Rieng Ward, Xuyen Moc, Vung Tau, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Vietnam

Isolated and very large, this well-maintained state-run resort has a beautiful setting, right on Ho Coc Beach, but targets domestic travelers, so customer service, English language ability, and Western choices at breakfast are somewhat lacking. There's a restaurant and a small shop on property and guests have access to a free shuttle to the nearby hot springs. A shuttle bus runs daily from Ho Chi Minh City's District 1 to the resort for a reasonable fee.

PROS

  • beachfront location
  • shuttle bus to Ho Chi Minh City center for a reasonable fee
  • room rate includes free entry to the Binh Chau Hot Springs and 20% discount on the mud baths

CONS

  • aside from the shuttle, it's nearly impossible to leave the resort if you don't have your own transportation
  • not much English is spoken
