Boat Travel

Two companies offer fast boat services between Ho Chi Minh City and Vung Tau and Greenlines.

Greenlines DP. Greenlines operates five boat services a day each way between Ho Chi Minh City and Vung Tau. The schedule isn't really suited for day trips to Vung Tau, with the first boat leaving Ho Chi Minh City at 8:30 am and the last boat leaving Vung Tau at 3:30 pm. Travel time between the two destinations is usually about 90 minutes. Adult fares are 250,000d one way. Saigon Waterbus. A new service launched in late 2017. Check the website for the latest schedule. Four routes are planned but only one is currently operating. Route No. 1 connects Bach Dang Pier in downtown District 1 to Linh Dong Pier in Binh Thanh District, which is a short ferry ride to Thanh Da Island and the Binh Quoi tourist villages, a cheap (15,000d) way to see Ho Chi Minh City from the Saigon River.
