If it's the height of luxury you're after, you probably won’t find it in many places outside Hanoi in the north of Vietnam. However, the pretourism days of mainly dank and dingy accommodations are long gone and even less vaunted destinations tend to have at least one highly acceptable hotel. Clean and friendly (if a little low on character) family-run hotels are the norm, but more luxury and individuality are creeping in as tourist flow increases.
