Popular for its stunning white-sand beach with turquoise waters, and especially appealing to families for its serene ambience, Kata Beach is made up of its southern part, where numerous resorts are located, and its central part, which is a stone’s throw from Karon to the north. There’s plenty to see and do besides relaxing and taking in the beautiful landscape. Surfing is one of the main draws to Kata, from May to October, which brings with it a lively nightlife scene and a thriving restaurant base. This is a family destination as well, mainly because Kata lacks the in-your-face bar scene of Patong, and has a greater variety of restaurants and shopping than its neighbor, Karon, to the north.
