Go Glamping in These Mongolian Yurts Outside of London

urt1

Londoners looking for an escape from city life should look no further than Barefoot Yurts, luxury Mongolian yurts in East Sussex, just two hours outside the city.

Overlooking Brede Valley, the two Barefoot Yurts are rented together for £150 per night for two adults or a family (children under 16 are free) during peak season, and £130 per night off-peak. The bedroom yurt comes with a handmade oak bed (there’s also plenty of space to set up a few cots), and the sitting room yurt has a wood burner that you can warm up beside at night. A kitchen with an oven and fridge is on-site, as is a shower. If you decide to wander off the campsite, nearby Rye Town is a medieval village with restaurants, art galleries, and antique stores; you may also stumble across castles and other ancient architecture in the surrounding East Sussex.

Barefoot Yurts is a family-run business; the owners built the traditional tents—known for their wind-resistance and mobility—out of recycled wood and other materials. The property also uses solar-powered lighting. Aside from their practicality, though, the yurts are a design lover's dream, with painted motifs and a glass skylight for stargazing. If you’re not in the UK, check out these other yurts on our radar for the ultimate glamping experience.
