3-day beach weekend in FL Nov for 2 adults
My husband and I need a get-away. Any suggestions for an ocean view place (not hotel) btw Jacksonville and Palm Beach Atlantic Ocean side? Interests: history, hiking, beach, local cuisine. Thanks.

We really enjoyed Amelia Island. There's a historic fort, Fort Clinch, to tour, hiking and biking trails, and the town of Fernandina Beach has some good restaurants. There's a huge Ritz property at the tip of the island, but we rented a beachfront villa/bungalow. This was about 5 years ago, so I hesitate to recommend the specific property, but there are lots listed on HomeAway.

Dukey1, I shouldn't have discounted places below Palm Beach. I will include them in my search. Ameia Island and Fernandina Beach are too for North though.
gmoney, we have visited St. Augustine several times and love it there, but we always stayed downtown, not on the beach. Besides, I wanted to try a different area/place.
vincenzo32951, this is a special birthday celebration, so we want something really nice and memorable. I would be willing to pay extra for something nice, but I wouldn't go overboard. Say, $300-$400/night?
Thank you all for responding. I'm really having trouble finding a place.

Gretchen, yes, we want to swim in the ocean. SC or Georgia coast would be great, but too far to drive for a three-day weekend.
I'm checking out Boca Raton now. I wish I could find a cute B&B on the beach. They have a lot of them on the west coast of FL.

Swim in the ocean in November? You have to be pretty hardy.
Look into Delray Beach. More likely to have a waterfront place for you, and you can walk to the Atlantic Avenue strip. Look at The Seagate; they have a nearby beach club.

There's "plenty to do" in South Florida whether or not you are swimming in the ocean. I'm sorry but for three nights I don't quite understand the apparent aversion to being in a hotel.
I hope this works out for the OP.

Thank you for all your help.
I found Windemere Inn by the Sea, a nice looking bed and breakfast located on a private beach near Melbourne, Florida. They had just gotten a cancellation so I got lucky. Another B&B a couple of miles south of that looked nice too: Port D'Hiver, but they were completely sold out for the weekend we wanted.
Hammock Beach and Seagate Beach Club looked great also. They were a lot larger so different atmosphere, but I would like to try one next time.
Dukey1, sometimes you just want to get away from the crowds.
