What itinerary should I pick for Europe ?
Hi,
I've been travelling across Canada (my home country) and a bit of the United-States and as of right now, I'm planning my first trip to Europe. I plan on going for 3 weeks and from what I have been told, I should stick to a minimum of cities to let myself explore more instead of constantly commuting between destinations.
I have put together possible itineraries. The thing is where I come from (Quebec City, Canada), the only flight going to Europe is to Paris, though I could go 2 hours from there in Montreal where the flights options are greater.
Itinerary 1:
- Paris, France (3-4 days)
- Ghent, Belgium (2 days)
- Bruges (2 days)
- Amsterdam (3-4 days)
- Berlin (3-4 days)
- Return to Paris
Itinerary 2:
- Paris (3-4 days)
- Munich (3 days)
- Berlin (3-4) + day trip to Postdam
- Cologne (2 days)
- Return to Paris
Are these both feasible ? Which one should I pick ? What cities should I visit instead ? I want your comments !

Welcome to Fodors. You will get more replies if you post this on the Europe board.
When you say two days, is that two or three nights? It takes two nights to get one day.
Which itinerary is "better" depends on your interests, but neither seem to require three weeks.

Yes they are both feasible. Not knowing why you chose those particular places it's hard to comment.
3 weeks is a good chunk of time. You can do more than you list without doing too much.
Nothing wrong with flying in and out of Paris.

Yes -- definitely re-post on the Europe board (see the 'Change Forum' pull down menu up top)
Flying in/out of the same city - whether Paris or any other - is seldom the best idea. You'd need to return to your arrival city the evening before your flight out so it means an extra flight or sometimes multiple extra train journeys.
Open Jaw (multi city) tickets are seldom much more expensive then R-T and save a huge hassle.

LSky: The OP started a new thread over on the Europe forum - maybe post to that one. http://www.fodors.com/community/euro...ts-please-.cfm
