Mobile Apps for Travel
Hi,
We are about to embark on our first trip to Europe and I would like recommendations on the best Mobile (Android) Apps for the following:
* An app that records everywhere that we travel, then can plot the route on a map afterward.
* App for maps/directions - Google Maps or ViaMichelin? How do I download maps and store them on my phone?
* Language translation app (English to French) in case I get stuck!
* Any other suggestions?
Many thanks.

Google Translate is the best translation app, hands down. Apple just announced new translation capabilities for Siri, but since you're Android, that's not for you, and I haven't tried it yet myself.
(People here will try to tell you translation apps don't work, but they don't know what they're talking about.)
I like having the XE app for currency conversion. I memorize the rate, roughly, but sometimes it becomes necessary to calculate accurately, and XE is great for that.

Thanks NewbE,
I've got Google Translate (just haven't ever needed to use it before). Will pull down XE as well. Good suggestion. I use it on my PC often, so will be handy to have the app.

Have you looked at TripIt? I love this app as all reservations you make where a confirmation is emailed to you go to the app that builds an itinerary for your trip. You have everything in one spot. Others who download the app can view your itinerary too so if you have a need to share it you can do so easily.
