Eastern Europe ~ Help Please!
My husband and I, age 66 and 68, will be visiting Prague, Vienna and Budapest for 11 days in September. Our first stop is the Four Seasons in Prague. We are planning to use Marriott points for a 5-night stay at either the Ritz in Vienna or Budapest. We arrive in Prague around noon the first day. My question is, how many nights would you suggest for Prague, 2 or 3? We will travel by train to each city. Would you use the 5-night point stay for Vienna or Budapest? (FYI, If you use 4 nights of points, the 5th night is complimentary. So, it is a nice incentive to stay 5 consecutive nights at one hotel.)
Prague - 2 or 3 nights?
Vienna - 3, 4, or 5 nights?
Budapest - 3, 4, or 5 nights?
We will enjoy visiting museums and sights. However, that will not dominate our days. We love to walk and explore different "neighborhood" in new cities. We are excited to taste wines of the region and try out great restaurants. We are interested in taking a scenic boat ride on the Charles and/or Danube rivers. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

How long you should stay at each destination isn't something another traveler can tell you. However, if you first decide which particular sites interest you in each city you'll then get estimates of how long you'll likely need. Giving general criteria, such as "sights" or "museums" isn't nearly as useful for making itinerary recommendations.

Welcome to Fodors mmb823. See the 'Change Forum' pull down menu? Click that and re-post your questions on the Europe board. And when you are over there you will find a ton of info already posted including trip reports about all three cities/countries.

I have stayed at the full service Marriott's in both Vienna and Budapest, not the RC. But, based on the amount to see I would do the 5 nights in Vienna allowing you to do a day trip to Melk and maybe another somewhere else.
I used points on those stays and at the former Ren in Prague on that trip. Loved Prague and thought it deserved at least 5 nights!
You may also want to consider 1 night in Cesky Krumlov.
