Everyone's feet are a bit different. She should go to a store that specializes in walking shoes and quickly get some good sandals that are comfortable for her. She should also break them in before she leaves. Ideally, she should also bring a second pair of good walking shoes.

I used chacos sandals when I visit Vietnam. They have great arch support and grip on the bottoms. I walked for miles each day around Hoi An and Hanoi and they never gave me a blister. They dry quickly too which is nice since it can be hot and humid.

Another vote for Keen Newport. I must be on my fourth pair. Supremely comfortable , hard wearing and great grip. My wife has a lighter, more elegant version but I can remember the model. Have a look on the keen site and there are lots of variations/colours etc.
