Paris in early august

Don't believe what TA says. I tried to eat at les canailles. Open.
Oops not in august.
Selected Albert. Open.
Oops in renovation.
Decided to use the good stochastic approach.
Most restaurants closed.
Coming to rue Blanche. Wait ! There is a great restaurant here on the left.
Argh closed.
Ended up in a good Asian ´ asian fusion food' I think.
Now exited at Pont Marie. Never took that station. Totally empty.
Got my bearings. Notre dame (sorry naughty damn) on my left. Tour saint Jacques on my right. I hope.
Looking for a last call at green linnet then sleep at hotel britannique.
what a wonderful city.
Good night folks.

I was going to the barber today, but the place was closed. However, as there was no notice posted, I don't know if they just decided to take Mondays off in August or the entire month.

If it's closed again tomorrow, I'll find another place to have my hair cut. 19€ is too expensive anyway, although when I discussed the price of some of the cut rate barbers in the area (almost all below 10 euros), my place insinuated that their tools were not properly cleaned and that I risked getting AIDS.

kerouac, I would hope the local barbers would not frequently cut into your scalp when you get a haircut!

I get my hair cut in southern france. Always open and cheaper.
Something not closed is the préfecture de police at rue Gesvres.
They just camera flashed 2 cars whilst I was texting.

And thank god the green linnet was open !

Very very quiet in this part of the 15eme. Most boulangeries and butchers closed. Very few restaurants open. Had to walk over to resto Lac Tana to see if they were closed or going to close this month... Nope, open and not closing any time in August. It is one of daughter's favorites and she arrives back to Paris Saturday, so at least we'll be able to eat there.

For the latest happening and good restaurants, check out Paris is My Kitchen site by Wendy Lyn, www.wendylyn.paris. She has a post on what good restaurants are open in the summer. A professional food guide from a background of restaurant consultancy in Paris. I did a private tour with her years ago and it was the best ever tour for a foodie, specially into the Parisian/French food arena. Would do the tour with her again.

I wouldn't use Tripadvisor to find out if a restaurant is open at a certain time or day, I'd find the restaurant's own website.

My barber did indeed turn out to just be closed on Sunday-Monday this month. The place was empty this morning and they were happy to see me.

Are the public toilets on streets closed for August?

Have the clochards gone to the seaside?

Pickpockets gone to Alps?

My hotel recommended me 3 bistrots / restos. 2 were closed the last I didn't find.
Finally I find a place that looks nice.
´ sorry we don't accept people coming in single. ´
See it is a concept '.
´ You want the card for another time ? ´
A curt No. I think my face showed I would come only after hell has frozen.
After passing half a dozen places. Closed. I found 2 restos open.
Chinese or North African.
Couscous it Was !
I chose well.

Late August rather than early August, but this is the Paris that I live in, which not many tourists come to see:
