Punta Cana for Christmas and New Years
Looking into booking a trip to Punta Cana over Christmas/NY. Pros and Cons? Where to stay?
We are a family of 3 (with husband and 6-year-old DD). We prefer our own condo (over glitzy resorts) where we have flexibility to cook or eat out. Proximity to the beach is the priority.
Any recommendations would be much appreciated!

Punta Cana is really not the place to go if you are looking for a condo vacation. It's predominately a place for large all-inclusive resorts, so there are few independent restaurants (but there are some now). There are some condos in Cap Cana, but this is just the wrong place for you I think.
Instead, you should look at Samana, where there are smaller communities with a lot of condos; La Romana (where you can get a condo-style unit at Casa de Campo if you want resort-style amenities); or the Puerto Plata area, where there are many different options. There are also some places on the south coast between Santo Domingo and La Romana where condos are the predominate option.
