Help with August trip ideas
Hi, I'm looking for some advice for a location for a family of four (kids, age 13 and 11) for the 2nd or 3rd week of August. We would like an all inclusive family resort on the beach and were looking into Riviera Maya or Punta Cana, but are concerned about the weather in August. I have read that Aruba or Curacao would be a safer option as far as weather. But I'm not finding many family all inclusives at these locations and I'm also concerned that there won't be enough to do on these islands. Any recommendations? Would like to keep budget under $5000, flying from Boston. Thx!

If you are worrying about hurricanes that it's most probably overrated problem: last 10 hurricanes that hits Punta Cana were in Sept-Oct and last of it was over 9 years ago. Hurricanes also are predicable, so, you will know for sure a week in advance. So, don't worry, Punta Cana is great in August, check new Nickelodeon resort or Barcelo Beach.

You can research the frequency of hurricanes for any given island at www.stormcarib.com. On the homepage click on the "Climatology" link then scroll down and click on "Hits & Misses". On the new page scroll down and click on the island you wish to research. You'll be directed to a chart showing the dates and intensity of every hurricane and tropical storm that affected that island since 1851. You'll be surprised at how few storms actually hit a specific island in a given year or month.
