Seeking feedback on Royal Air Maroc nonstop IAD-CAS
I'm working on an IAD-London-Morocco and return trip but I'm sorely tempted by RAM's affordable and nonstop flights from Washington Dulles to Casablanca.
The general RAM reviews here and elsewhere are universally mediocre and worse, especially with respect to luggage loss. (I can't do carry on.)
However, I can find no specific reviews of the IAD-CAS flight and wonder if anyone can provide me with information on it. I'm curious if maybe RAM uses newer planes on this route, if the potential for luggage loss is less, or if there is anything in particular that makes this fight "better" than their others.
Thanks in advance.

In all my visits to Morocco I've never used RAM because I could always do much better fare-wise another way. But if you find a route you like at a good fare, though I too have never read a good review of RAM, the convenience may be worth it. I've never priced any except the direct flights from NYC to Casa.
Would you just skip London to take advantage of the direct flights? RAM also flies to LHR so you might investigate that routing.

MmePerdu: thanks for the reply. Yes, I thought I might skip London if it cost too much, or if the flights involved too much hassle. I will definitely look at using RAM to do a multi-city trip involving London and CAS. But based on the reviews, I don't think I'd trust my luggage to RAM for a connecting flight.

If you could get them to route you non-stop to Casa from the US, then direct to LHR from Casa, then direct to the US home from London, there would be no transfer by them of your luggage at any point. I think it's true that changing planes enroute to one's destination is the weak link where luggage is concerned.

RAM multi-city will probably require a return via Casablanca. In general, a national airline has to land on its home airport before continuing on to another destination. This may be worthwhile one way, but not necessarily the other way. For example, going to Paris via Istanbul added 5 hours to our flying time, but saved us $900. However, the return flight from Budapest had a 12 hour layover in Istanbul to be added to the total flight time. This could have been a deal breaker except that we had wanted to revisit Istanbul, which we did on our return to the States.
